Is there a reason Kiss of Mephistopheles didn’t make the cut in Xanathar’s?

  1. D. Walker says:

It’s also literally 50% of a Warlock’s spell capacity per short rest, and Warlocks can’t choose which level to cast their spells at, and instead are forced to “maximize” the scaling.

AND it costs you an Eldritch Invocation.

That’s an awful big investment for what a Sorcerer can do with a single Quicken Spell metamagic for only 2 sorcery points.

Which brings up the very good question – if this is “Too Much Damage”, then why is Firebolt + Fireball okay?

    • Firebolt + Fireball = d10+8d6 (33 on average)
      Eldritch Blast + Fireball = 2d10+8d6 (38 on average)
If with Agonizing Blast (usually, at level 5 probably around an 18 Cha)
      2d10+8+8d6 (47 on averrage)

This is on a single target and don’t take into consideration that Fireball can hit multiple targets plus secondary effects.

Around +42.42% damage increase at level 5 and keep in mind, Fireball at that level is already above the curve.

You can 2 shot a troll from 600 ft. if you want to. It is a bit strong.
