#dnd tip for new DMs: if you're creating your own campaign world, don't be afraid to start small. Detailing a small town or a neighborhood in a large city is enough work. The adventurers progress rapidly, and the setting can grow with them. Lessons learned early will help later.

And if they want to go deeper/farther in world building early on, they should realize it’s probably for their own enjoyment in order to avoid being frustrated when the players don’t immediately engage as deeply with it as they do.

Precisely this. Do it if you enjoy it, but it might not make it to the table or into the players' minds. https://t.co/Ih9hu90TkK
