@HellcowKeith in your eberron are changelings able to take on the appearance of warforged?

I think the relevant cat is out of the bag. Warforged now attach armor; it essentially becomes their skin, but it's still mechanically wearing armor. Changeling shapeshifting can't replicate armor. So you could appear to be a "naked" warforged, but that's rare to see.

The next question: if you have the appropriate armor, could you replicate a warforged? To which I'd say… maybe. Warforged don't simply WEAR armor; it's bonded to them (a racial ability changelings don't have). So I'd probably give advantage to penetrate the disguise.

That's correct, you're duplicating the frame. That doesn't mean it holds up on examination, though… just as you could theoretically replicate a tortle with Disguise Self, but you don't get the AC benefit of the shell; it's a visual disguise, but you don't mimic density.

The Rising approach to warforged armor is entirely in line with reforged. The idea is that they bond to armor and it's like skin to them; most are built with armor and never remove it. The reforged chooses to remove the armor and to focus on their living nature.

So if you want to be reforged, essentially, play a warforged bard and don't wear armor.

Ugh… why though? Your thing from wayfinders guide was better.. I prefer the FLAVOR of the WGtE approach, but the Rising approach is much cleaner in how it interacts with feats and features. I add some further thoughts in Exploring Eberron.

Thanks Keith! Answers a long standing question. Do you ever make replicating non-mammalian humanoids more difficult? Thri-kreen/Lizardfolk of course have more limbs, but Dragonborn don’t Generally, no. The restriction on equipment is already a big limitation over Disguise Self or a Hat of Disguise. As long as they've SEEN a dragonborn, I don't see a reason to make it difficult. Warforged are a special case because of how they integrate equipment.
