Unpopular #DnD opinion: I like the hybrid of at-will and Vancian magic in #DnD5e
It stops low level wizards from becoming dart-and-dagger throwers after a single fight, but maintains the traditional, signature feature of #DnD magic – the weirdness of a spell living in your headI still get stuck on calling 5e spellcasting "Vancian." I know it still uses slots, but to me the hallmark of Vancian magic was forgetting a spell for the day after casting it, and that conceit is pretty much gone.
