Storm King’s Thunder is an underrated campaign.
It’s got a bit of a slow start, but there is so much player agency baked into that adventure module. Five whole chapters (arguably six) hinge upon the characters’ choices.
Also you get dungeons…AND dragons. I’m surprised I don’t see folks mention it more! It’s kind of baller that you can run an entire adventure and, based upon the player’s decisions, leave four entire chapters unexplored.
Next to Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, it’s probably the most replayable campaign in D&D 5e.

SKT was still pretty early in 5e, so it’s understandable they included a chapter to get the characters up to level 5—it’s kind of hard to fight giants at first level—but I’m curious what, if anything, was cut to accommodate the final page count! We liked it so much, we kept going after we finished the campaign.
Maybe I just like giants!
If I remember right, Volo’s came out around the same time. I was so inspired by its idea of conveying a giant’s size: trees scattering in their wake, gusts of wind w/ each breath, etc.

There’s a somewhat daunting chapter in there with like 164 locations in Faerun. I always point to it for folks who want to explore more of the Realms in 5e. It’s a good starting place, bearing in mind that a lot of them are framed around the giants’ activity and its consequences.Anyway, it’s a cool adventure! I’m sure they’d change some things if they were releasing it now—we made it so you could inscribe runes on magical weapons—but it still holds up pretty well!
If anything, its good for its mini giant-themed gazetteer!

IIt also has one of my favorite villains of all time, but I won’t spoil that one! If you reply to this thread, I ask that you don’t either, please. 🙏
Anyway, you should check it out! It’s a good one. Also, as a general note, I generally don’t like to use my platform to criticize things that aren’t harmful in nature.
Every adventure has areas for improvement, especially older ones. I like to talk about the parts I enjoy!
