A new Dragonlance painting from Larry Elmore – pt2 Zoltar 4 years ago I continued working on mountains and rocky areas. Did a little changes here and there of what I did yesterday. The colors on the mountains and rocky areas are not final. The way I paint is that I workout the background as I go, it is an underpainting in a way, but certain areas are finished as I go. I can safely say that only the sky is finished (I think) but not much else. Well, I got in about 2 or 4 hours in yesterday and today I have in 6 so far. I have been making progress on the background, none is finished yet…the far mountains in the background are almost finished. But I feel it is coming along pretty good, I think there will be a few more adjustments here and there and of course finishing up all the background. Then I start on the darn dragon, after all these years and all the dragons I have painted–NONE of them have been easy! Whew…I got a couple of pretty good days of work on the painting. The background is all covered and about 98% finished. I need to do some glazing over all of it, tone it down some and a little more work on the areas that are close to the viewer, around the bottom of the painted area. I managed to get another day of work on the painting. Did some glazing over the background and worked all the way up to the big rock the dragon is standing on. The big rock is only roughed in. I will continue tomorrow! Another day in on the rocks and “stuff” in the foreground. Getting it all roughed in. You know, the easiest thing in this painting will be painting the women and dragon. They will take a lot of time, but the most difficult parts are almost over!! When I drew the art to paint, the hardest parts of the drawing were the dragon and women!! I guess I have painted so many people and dragons, they are not so difficult anymore! Share this:
