#AprilTTRPGMaker My influences – Gygax and Arneson for D&D; Zeb Cook, Tom Moldvay, and Doug Niles for their follow-up work. Weis, Hickman, LeGuin, Butler, Leiber for their writing.

Couple other specific books –

Honestly, as far as D&D is concerned, I associate you more with Robin Laws and Steve Jackson than Gygax. Like, a definite focus on the narrative rather than the procedural side. There's definitely a divide between how AD&D was written, and what I've heard about Gary's actual campaigns.

#AprilTTRPGmaker – Do you design in private or public?
Public, as much as we can. User feedback is critical to our success, plus I think it’s a big part of D&D becoming a platform for creativity. The stuff you face as a DM is very similar to what we face working on the game.— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) April 15, 2018
