Nope.
Before I scour my books, are there any official rules for jousting in 5e? #dnd A DM of mine worked up some easy jousting rules in a campaign a few years ago that were fun.

How did they do it? Neither whittling down your opponents hit points with a melee attack using a lance or making shove attacks to knock them prone seem satisfying. Each round jousters make attack rolls.
– Hit = break lance on body/shield, 1 point.
– You can take disadvantage before you roll to attack the head, hit = break lance on helmet, 2 points.
– Critical hit = unhorsed opponent, 3 points and win opponent's horse.3 points wins.

There might have been a Strength saving throw allowed on a critical hit, but I don’t recall since it didn’t come up in our joust. Interesting. Thanks!

I would think it would need to be a combo mini game: successful animal handling check, then normal attack roll, if it hits, mounted attack damage. If the animal handling check fails, attack at disadvantage. Then roll athletics if you’re hit to see if you fall off. About the farthest I'd go to complicate it further would be to use Wisdom (Animal Handling) checks in place of initiative if I wanted riding skill to matter, AND wanted to keep it to separate turns to avoid the chance of ties.
