In the lands along the north shore of the Lake of Steam, many gases erupt from fissures in the earth, and/or bubble up through pools and even into streams (which sometimes emit “smoke” [hot mists] as a result. 2)
Some of these “fumes and vapours” are toxic, some just smell bad or taint the earth or bring on hallucinations, and some are useful medically or in hide-curing and other processes if captured in vials.
