As a new-ish DM wanting to expand into the exiting supplemental books out there; I’d like to ask the wonderful DMs I follow for their advice:@Dan_Dillon_1, @PinkDiceGM, @Hjorimir, @gluecksalpaca, @TheKindGM what 3 supplemental books would you suggest I get first? Thank you all! Echoing what others have said: it depends!
I’ve gotten value out of all the official products and many third party books published under the open gaming license as well.
Are you looking for rules expansion? Monsters? Adventure or setting? Character options?

Sorry for the slow responses, convention time has me.
I have all I can handle with the standard rules for now, but I’d like to branch out when I’m steadier on my feet. For the moment, I think adventures, settings, monsters, & most of all improving my DM skills, are my greatest needs. So for adventures I’m partial to the published 5e campaigns. For intro/newbie-friendly, the Starter Set and Essentials Kit can’t be beat.
For setting, one of my (biased) favorites is the Midgard Campaign Setting.
