I’ve been playing the most recent Assassin’s Creed game and have come to am important revelation regarding 5e.

Spears should have the Reach property. Keeping people with swords at arm’s length is my main survival strategy.

Also spears are criminally underused by PCs anyway. Pikes or lances for your martial weapon wielding dirtbags.
