The Chosen of Sarlona are bred to be hosts and have no choice. A human who allows a quori to possess them regains control if it leaves or is driven out; it can’t possess them again unless they allow it.

This is why the Quori use Mind Seed for especially important targets, as that doesn’t require permission… but it has its own risks.
