Can you ready an action to cast Dispel Magic as an alternative to Counterspell? In theory this would allow classes without Counterspell to use their reaction to dispel it. Or would the opponents spell activate first before being dispelled?You can't use dispel magic as a stand in for counterspell. For dispel magic to work, a spell already has to be in effect. The spell has to complete, take effect, then you can dispel it.
