What does alignment do for your players in Critical Role?
@matthewmercer what does alignment do for your players in @CriticalRole? @LauraBaileyVO turned back to CG, but what did that change?
— W Travis Reichel (@WTravisR) November 12, 2016
Alignment has very little mechanical effect to the game. It was more important in older editions. However, it's a fun moral barometer! https://t.co/TyfygWbcrs
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) November 12, 2016
@charonsclaws03 I always thought alignment matter and experience points were being handed out. Just as a role-playing affect It helps in certain situations (against certain enemies, using certain items), but its more of a Roleplaying guide.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) November 12, 2016
@matthewmercer Does alignment deviation affect Paladins in your game, though?
— Jamie M. (@LeSemblantON) November 12, 2016
It can effect Clerics/Paladins & others that have patrons they grant their power. Act enough out of your/god's alignment, POOF! No power! https://t.co/oa3fR6d01r
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) November 12, 2016
@jasonshamblin @WTravisR @CriticalRole @LauraBaileyVO I find it more limiting than helpful. People don’t fit perfectly into 1 of 9 boxes. Yeah, it has varying results based on the game/players.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) November 12, 2016
@LeSemblantON @CaptainTalon447As I recall, some Paladins can gain power through their convictions, rather than deities, though. no?

Certainly! Then those convictions drive the restrictions— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) November 13, 2016

Unearthed Arcana is playtest material!
Unearthed Arcana is playtest material. If you have feedback, make sure to take the surveys. You can help shape the game. #DnD #WOTCstaff
— Jeremy Crawford (@JeremyECrawford) December 12, 2016
I avoid answering queries on Unearthed Arcana material, unless a query relates to a core rule. I don't want to sway UA feedback. #WOTCstaff
— Jeremy Crawford (@JeremyECrawford) December 12, 2016
@JeremyECrawford when do you release an update for the UA playtest materials that have been previously released and have had feedback about?
— HalfOrcGunslinger (@PaladinTiefling) December 12, 2016
We offer new versions of UA material if we need more public feedback on something. Release timing is driven by that need. #WOTCstaff https://t.co/JRSjI6oYqG
— Jeremy Crawford (@JeremyECrawford) December 12, 2016
@jaa0109You won’t answer if something is oversight / intended in UA? It’d be helpful to know so I can give feedback on it. The fact that you aren't sure about our intent is the feedback I want.
— Jeremy Crawford (@JeremyECrawford) December 12, 2016
@jaa0109 Understood, but I’d like to know HOW to playtest it, and that sorta plays into it.
HYPOTHETICALLY, +mod or flat 1d4? I'll try to guide you to an answer. Why would you add your modifier to an instance of bonus damage that isn't an attack?
— Jeremy Crawford (@JeremyECrawford) December 12, 2016
@JeremyECrawford Gotcha. Apologies if I seemed a bit pushy.
— John Appleton (@jaa0109) December 12, 2016
@simplybroseph Lack of clarity in a rule is relevant feedback for the survey if I recall last week's answer from @JeremyECrawford correctly.
— Viktor Bengtsson (@vikke064) December 12, 2016
Telling us a rule is unclear/incomplete is one of the most important types of feedback, after telling us whether a rule is fun. #WOTCstaff https://t.co/hdNzIEBeEJ
