Reminding that D&D's rules support changing what doesn't work for you is a stopgap. It's a band aid.
The hope is that it can alleviate some pain points in the meantime, while deeper structural fixes happen over time. No one is saying "DIY" is the final answer. #WotCStaff

What we put into the books has weight, it sets the foundation of the game. We know it, and we’re not shying away from it. It's got a timeline, though, and if that's gonna be too long for you, I understand. Can't blame you.
I just want to do right by the people who love RPGs, and I hope we can earn some of your trust.

D&D won't be everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay (play other RPGs too, they're fricking great). But everyone should see themselves welcome in it, without having to rebuild the foundation into something that doesn't cut them.
That's it for me. G'night y'all.
