4th Edition had a PC ancestry called the Deva, basically a half-angel. I think aasimar is the modern equivalent?
They had an ability called “memory of a thousand lifetimes” that let them add 1d6 to a failed roll. The idea being their immortal experience grants them insight. 1/

I read that, liked it, but it didn’t really have anything to do with my world. I thought ‘I know what these guys are. They’re reincarnated ancient Elf heroes! That ability is them remembering their previous life.”
2/ I think the elves called them The Fated. Normal elf person is born, and other elves look into their eyes and recognize some ancient elf soul in there. The elf is not 100% aware of this, they have a kind of dual-identity.

The elves never really see it as two people though. Saying “that is this one elf, and also this other, ancient elf” is no contradiction to them. It’s not a contradiction to the Fated. Just the way it is.

I would be interested to see if shadar Kai would fit into your setting, or how you would integrate them. WotC keeps changing their lore. My shadar-kai are called the Hlan. The Deep Men who sided with the dark elves and were banished along with them to the World Below.
