@Dan_Dillon_1 long ago you mentioned that the DMG encounter building guidelines worked well for you without considering the multiplier. Do you still recommend that or use it yourself? #dnd

For my home games I tend to ignore the multiplier, yes. Lately I’ve been running more published material, and haven’t been doing numerical TPK checks on encounters even.
I know the frost giant riding a mammoth will kill ‘em all if they decide to fight it. 😂 Thats their lookout. Hell I even threw in an extra ochre jelly in the Essentials Kit, because it was dramatic as hell to have it blorp out of a crack in the wall just when they felt safe. Level 2. They were fine.
