Do you take a ability score improvement or feat? What is your favorite feat (in general not character based)?Depends so heavily on the character. Sometimes just increasing the ability score makes the most sense, and overall increase in competence in that area (which often equates to mechanical effectiveness).
Sometimes a feat tells that story better or leans into a playstyle I want.

As for feats, I really love Elemental Adept and Skulker.
Ignoring fire resistance because things are underwater is such a power move, and being able to Hide in dim light says “screw you and your darkvision.” 😂
