I have a campaign I’m starting up soon and a player is asking to be @matthewmercer’s Gunslinger. Does anyone have one or DM for one? Nervous about the crafting aspect mostly. The crafting is mostly to repair firearms, and craft certain firearms and ammunition at half cost based on the difficulty of the task (in your mind). Ammo isn’t a huge DC, but weapons can take time/multiple checks. Low rolls can succeed, but may increase the misfire Score.

As a twitter rando, can I point out I’m not a huge fan of misfire rules? I understand that people like to build in reasons why *everyone* doesn’t use guns, but centering a character on a weapon that gets extra chances to break seems unduly punitive. Just my two cents. Then by all means, don’t use them! 🙂 They are there as a means of balance/flavor, but your game is your game.

Yeah, I was more trying to talk design theory, rather than lobby you for changes in your own rules. (I kinda forgot who you were. Sorry.) It’s all good! The class was originally designed as a conversion of the Pathfinder Gunslinger, which is where the misfire comes from. Latest edition, and coming feat, have options to offset the danger/impact of misfire. 🙂
