Does Tomb of Annihilation’s death curse negate Lingering Soul option?

Would I be correct in assuming that TOA’s death curse would probably negate this option? Wondering if the wondering soul escapes the soul monger #dnd

Up to the DM, but the nature of the Soulmonger would greatly hinder a ghost from remaining outside of extenuating circumstances.
