Should we wait till there is an official release then, if we don’t want to pay twice? Or will the official Ebberon book have different content? Updates to PDFs are free once you buy them via the DMs Guild, so if you buy today you’ll get the updated ones for free.

I’m sorry, I’ll try to be more clear. I’m a bit confused about this. Is this like a pre-book or is this something else entirely? Is it even official or will it be eventually? If I buy this, will i end up buying an official Ebberon book in a year from now with different content?

This is 100% official content for Eberron. Since it is an ebook, that also means we can update content with comments based on UA playtests of the races and the artificer. If we do an Eberron print product, we will design it to complement as much as possible what the PDF presents. https://t.co/jq9zf1BmIZ

A product that also gets a physical release, perhaps on several other platforms like Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds.
I appreciate your current attempts to clarify this information but I still must say that this has not been communicated well at all today. This book and a theoretical print release will be designed to complement each other, though some material (artificer, races) will be duplicated.

So if we pay twenty dollars for this Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron, will the updates be applied to the book we purchase now or are you going to release a New and Improved book for another twenty dollars? They are all applied to the book you already purchased. No further purchases needed.

Dear @mikemearls & @JeremyECrawford will you be releasing the entire contents of the new Eberron playtest material for free on UA? Because I see the races on UA now I wonder if I should get my $20 back. Asking for a bunch of friends. Like every book we produce, we'll be releasing as many of the player-facing mechanics as possible for playtest via UA. The final version will be added to an updated PDF once testing is done, just as we do for print products.

So, this is going to be the first official book (when the printed version comes to life) with PDF version available too? We'll likely make them two, separate things. Just speaking theoretically – the print book might focus on the Five Nations and adventures there, while this covers Sharn in more detail.
