How do the Masked Lords keep their identities secret beyond their outfits? What keeps someone from just following them home or something? My players are on a mission to steal a Lord’s Ensemble for the Xanathar. I don’t think it should be that easy. Masked Lords USUALLY keep the outfits at the Palace. Many citizens go to and from the Palace every day (think of it as a combined City Hall/convention centre/licensing services kiosk), so they go openly and don/doff outfits in private (in rooms behind secret doors).#Realmslore

Are they typically kept in separate rooms unique to each lord or are the rooms and outfits shared among them all? The outfits are shared only on rare occasions/emergencies. The hidden cloakrooms and "robing rooms" (= dressing rooms) are scattered across the westernmost Palace, on all floors, and are habitually shared among a handful of Lords (but they all know where all are).#Realmslore

It would be pretty easy to start figuring out Masked Lords if they all simply openly walked to the palace every time the Lords convened.
Cheap paid lookouts doing nothing but observing the comings and goings of the palace each day and taking notes would be able to quickly provide all the data you need to start figuring out patterns and deducing membership.
“Hmm, these X number of people all seem to show up on the same days, and they tend to arrive and leave within X amount of time of each other…” You could start to draw some pretty sound conclusions, and conduct a process of elimination.
Far more secure would be a system where Lords show up via teleportation circles and similar, because then their comings and goings wouldn’t be visible.
