Most sages and mages in the Realms use the terms and classifications seen in the PHB, expressed thus: “cantrips” and then spells “of the first” (1st level), “of the second” (2nd level) and so on.#Realmslore

Thank you! I always understood that the D&D magic system (in any edition) is a super simplification of the magic operation in Realms that is something infinitely more complex. Am I right? You are indeed. The Vancian magic system in the D&D rulebooks covers widely-known arcane (wizard) and divine (priest/cleric) spells in the Realms, but there are many other systems of magic operating alongside these. The Realms is literally ALIVE with magic.#Realmslore
