if a bugbear’s long limbed trait adds to the reach of a weapon with reach, does it add reach to meleeweapons without it? Like my ranger fights with a bow and spear, the spear doesn’t have the reach trait. #DnD It adds 5' to the reach of any melee attack. Spear's reach is 5' so with Long Limbed it becomes 10'. But only on your turn. Which is odd, but it is what it is.

Yeah, I just meant odd thematically. I’m fine with it mechanically. Fair.

5 ft length for a bugbear is awful short! That’s more for a gnome or halfling! spears range in size from 5 to 13 feet. Typically, if you employ a long spear you want it about a yard/meter taller than you. It seems an ideal size for a medium sized creature is around 8 to 9 ft. But then again, maybe that tribe of bugbears favor a fighting style using short spears, just because they like being up close to the enemy to intimidate them!
