#dnd tip for combat encounters: if you run grid-based encounters, beware rooms that are too small or that have choke points like doorways and hallways. Such combats can be fun occasionally, but if done too often they can become a drag, both in time and energy.

This is a great argument having a map for our adventures. And for writing our adventures with the map laying next to us! Or using theater of the mind and not worrying about a map! And that's cool. But if you are writing for publication, you have to remember that at least some DMs and players are going to try to map it.
