If you take a feat with +1 ability score, but it’s already 20 can you put that score somewhere else?

@JeremyECrawford I asked this last week and am re-asking in case you missed it. Not trying to be pushy. If you take a feat with +1 ability score, but it's already 20 can you put that score somewhere else or is it lost?
