Also an interesting note is that many of the actual replies are elaborating as to why they said no but it is a MARGINALLY different value in yes.
Also a lot of the responses that are "Yes" seem to relate their choice to fun while the "No" talk about GM responsibility

I say yes! They roll dice, make (NPC) characters, and hopefully have fun!
I'd go as far as to say that *not* classifying the GM as a player facilitates the toxic GM vs. player mentality and removes responsibility from the players to ensure that the GM is also having a good time.

Dms and players are all playing a game. In that sense I voted yes. They all need to be having fun or the point is missed. There are distinctions in the roles between who is running the game and who are portraying player characters.
