Agreed. A handful of my RPG regrets come from playing optimally at the expense of a great story moment.

And that’s not to say that I didn’t trust him, I just didn’t think about it at the time. There was a very clear safest course of action that we as the players opted for, and in immediate hindsight, shouldn’t have.
