Just converted a magic item that can cast haste. Thinking about it, haste doesn't get used much in 5e in my games. It's a good spell! It's weird, it used to be pretty popular in older editions.

I think it’s popularity in 3e/PF has more to do with that system taking all the negatives away from it, some of which 5e put back.It was also so good in 3.0 that it had to be nerfed in 3.5, where it was still amazing.

I think it’s less that players found ways around it and more that it didn’t really matter practically. The stun thing matters, especially if the caster loses concentration.
