Just sayin (as one of I’m sure dozens) that the Kenku’s inability to create anything new, including language, extends to drawings. They’re great /forgers/ and /copiers/, but not artists themselves. I was under the impression that their inability to communicate without mimicry was just verbal, based on the official 5e racial breakdown. They can still read and write common. pic.twitter.com/lRc8XbS0Za

I think they were referencing the lore from Volo’s Guide about their complete loss of the “spark of creativity”, thus damning them to an existence as imitators without the ability to invent/creat new things. Then again, your house ruling can be different so it’s either or. True, but I’d consider this more an act of communication than a creative endeavor. Scribbling a terrible drawing of her memory of her parents is different than a creative art piece or idea. Forging a signature you’ve once seen is similar to sketching a person you once saw.
