#CriticalRoleSpoilers I’m new to D&D (2 yrs) but is Ashton wildly OP? A tanky PC that hits like a train, plus a ton of crazy no-save abilities. Zero downside so far.
Love the idea of a dunamancy barbarian but this is a lot?
I trust @matthewmercer ofc, and I’m loving C3 so far! Its a consideration! He’s rolled really high so far, but his “burst” damage is +2d4 twice a day, which is comparable/less than the Zealot Barb which is +1d6+Half Barb lvl once every round. The other abilities are largely utility/situationally helpful. We shall see as it goes!— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) November 19, 2021
Barbarians are indeed that tanky PC that hits like a truck with few downsides, hehe.

Is there any chance you would change some of the abilities if they turn out to be to OP or would you keep it the same? If they did, we would adjust. Nothing is locked into stone. Even published classes can be tweaked if its not working out for ya.

Thanks for the added info! I’m a new DM so I’m just starting to learn this whole balance thing and I appreciate the insight! Totally! Balance is always a weird, ever-shifting thing, and the fun elements of homebrew revolve around watching and tweaking as you go. 🙂 Even the 5e release classes have some balance issues baked in, hehe.

There are plenty of classes that do way more damage early on, @executivegoth just rolling well!. That said some of us are confused how he could’ve have rolled 27 to hit… and he says his plus damage is +7 at level 3? Str bonus + Rage bonus + Magic Weapon bonus (folks got to pick starting magic items to match the level of the EXU arriving chars)

I can’t believe that at level 4 Ashton almost has more hp than my level 9 Rogue, when we both have a +3 in Con.
Ashton has 50hp at level 4.
My Rogue has 58hp at level 9.Crazy. Fucking Barbarians, dude.
