who does more damage with his fists than a monk. 🙁 Martial Arts puts the monk ahead overall in a round.

You can't use Two Weapon Fighting with unarmed strikes. Monks are special, it's built into Martial Arts that they can use a bonus action to attack with their unarmed.
Duel wielding d8s at lvl one might b too good tho 🙂 A monk wielding a quarterstaff in two hands out-damages the fighter with Unarmed Fighting Style.

Okay, but consider this. What if a monk takes the new feat, Fighting Initiate, at 4th level, and chooses the Unarmed Fighting style? It would allow them to increase their Unarmed Strikes to a d8 and then use their martial arts feature to substitute Dex for the modifier. Even better, make the subclass the new Astral Self monk and be able to use your Wis modifier for attacks and damage, have a 10ft reach, a 10ft grapple range, an extra 1d4 per round to grappled targets, and deal force damage.
