Adventurers!
An agent from Elminster of Shadowdale is teasing on twitter!
Forgive my usurpation of this information stream, but circumstances call for nothing less. I dare not cede control ere I’ve occasion to recount a brief but dire missive from the realms that time forgot. The Sage of Shadowdale hath hid on Earth a stone, of power great and imminent import. Its guardian, an exile from my realm, was spirited to Earth with this in tow; To keep it safe and secret ere its prophesied return.

The hour of its need now soon at hand, this item and its wielder must be found; Sent, via portal, back from whence they came. At long last, well and truly homeward-bound The Sage of Shadowdale himself is otherwise engaged, and cast me as his proxy in this search. Unable, as I am, to sojourn there myself, this task falls to the denizens of Earth.

Should you be of a mind to render aid, direct your queries to mine own account. I’m called @Immortal4tress, my address: your internet; Elminster’s humble servant, and forever in your debt.

To expedite the artifact's return, we'll heed the trail and leave #NoStoneUnturned.

It is the will of Elminster that this lost stone be found; At least, last time I saw him face-to-face. And in anticipation of this circumstance’s turn the Sage of Shadowdale hath left contingencies in place. He penned an incantation, not of sound, but to be read, designed for propagation on your so-called “worldwide web.”

Should we invoke this magic in sufficient magnitude, the hope is it will bring to bear the first of many clues; A roadmap to the truths he’d not entrust, even to me, for fear that, in the telling, those with prying eyes might see. Now Tweet with me these words to bring this journey to a head:

Might I ask dear agent if the Sage if you shroud your name because your legend has been told or simply because this name suits you best?

My surname’s Marivaldi, but I’m Kalesh to my friends. Though neither name’s germane to the achievement of our ends. https://t.co/0z2Z4HnXHS

This stone you seek, what is its purpose?

‘Tis a repository for the secrets of the past. All that can be remembered can, in turn, be there amassed. https://t.co/6IbSHimjeU

The hour of need for the stone draws near you say, but you refrain from speaking of the need itself. Why should we help you with such an undertaking, without understanding what is at stake?— Tom Martino (@SoilentSoylent) May 2, 2018
That which Elminster intends remains unknown even to me. To this day, the ways of wizards… an enduring mystery. I suspect his circumspection stems from fear word will get out to those who’d use the stone for ill, whose ends he’s come to doubt. https://t.co/hMfFITIyI4

@immortal4tress You said the guardian was exiled to Earth. By who and for what crime? Surely, your guardian wronged someone powerful! #NoStoneUnturned
— Xavian Starsider (@KoalaXav) May 2, 2018
Perhaps in haste I used too harsh a term. In “exile,” he was a volunteer. Not to be gone forever, but till he need reappear. https://t.co/d2BSVrOLbw

The man dispatched to Earth and tasked with safeguarding the stone, knows not his own true name, nor of the land he once called home; Subjected to a spell, which, for a time, recast his mind, occluding his true self, lest he be too easy to find. Our subject’s anonymity is key; Not all who seek him out are as quite so trustworthy as we.

And yet those selfsame safeguards, while in place, protect him from both friend and foe alike. And easy though it be to sow mistrust, if we yet hope to find him, his name need be known to us. It is my hope that in the coming days those clues that come will to him point the way.
