I need to design some short adventures for tomorrow the players won’t go on. Need might be the wrong word! There are different levels of design. Not every adventure needs to be fully locked down before the players engage with it. Though it helps to know the fundamentals.

If you fully design three adventures that the players then have a choice of which to take, then that’s two adventures of design not used. Yes, you can reuse in other places some of the design, but also having stock design elements that you can slot in when appropriate also helps.

But I do believe having some ideas in the initial concept is important. I was the players to believe they’re exploring a detailed world rather than one invented on the spur of the moment.
