Forcecage was a dick move as a DM. Real powerful, but the PCs had to have Disintegrate prepared or else a PC was going to be goofing off the rest of the combat. Or teleports, but yeah. It could easily be that PC(s) is shut down for about a day.

It’s always interesting which spells DMs avoid so their players don’t rage quit that players love using on monsters. Imagine a character being stuck in a force cage for a whole battle. Easy to imagine, have seen it from both sides of the screen.

Halaster survived in part because he was so attuned to the Weave; when the ritual went awry and his body was rent asunder, his essence was scattered across the planes (some of it being caught in the Weave). 2)
