Are there any plans to better clarify the rules on Mounted Combat? JC talked to Greg Tito a while back on his show about Mounted Combat, which is good, but it doesn’t write it in stone for the rules. Is there something in particular in the mounted combat rules you're unclear on?

1/?. Opportunity Attacks (OA). “You…don’t provoke an OA when when someone or something moves you without using your movement, action, or reaction.” But with mounted combat there is a grey area. Although the PC specifically is not moving, the PC is moving by… 2. …controlling the movement of the mount. So, the PC can have the mount take the Disengage attack and the PC can do a drive by attack and not take an OA because the mount is moving them? I wish there were concrete rules on OA's with mounted combat. Thx Dan.

PHB pg 198, “Controlling a Mount.”

“…if the mount provokes an opportunity attack while you’re on it, the attacker can target you or the mount.” Right, but what if you have the mount take the disengage action? The mount wouldn’t take an OA, but the rider would, or wouldn’t they. The rider is being moved by the mount, but it’s only because the rider is directing the mount to do so. Could all be cleared up with a sentence.

The rules cover it. Directing the mount doesn't use the rider's action, reaction, or movement.

If the mount Disengages, there is no opportunity attack provoked.

The rules cover it, but it’s a few rules that need to be pieced together. Squeeze what you just wrote into the PHB.

“Directing the mount doesn’t use the rider’s action, reaction, or movement. If the mount Disengages, there is no opportunity attack provoked (by the rider).” If it took any of those things it would explicitly say so. 🙂

Hello! If the PCs let the Cassalanters be damned to the Hells in Dragonheist, when, where and in which form would it be best for them to appear in Avernus? They could appear at any time! If you want them to be favored of Asmodeus, they could appear as greater devils with a “gift” from their benefactor. If they disappointed Asmodeus, then they could be a couple of squabbling minor devils blaming each other for their misfortune. Fun!

There is something magical about playing non-heroic characters with little to no magical abilities themselves. It frames everything you see with a bit more wonder and makes magic more of a rarity.

Hey @matthewmercer when going Bloodhunter Order of the Lycan, what weapon type does “Predatory Strikes” count as and what fighting styles can be used with it? Since it says single weapon for the purpose of Crimson Rite does it work with "Duelist?" Or is it a "Two-Weapon fighting" situation since you specified that you can use your bonus action to make an additional attack like when you are dual-wielding

Unarmed strikes are not considered a weapon, so they do not work with fighting styles (hence the bonus to attack it gets at later levels as its own inherent benefit). However, you can indeed use weapons in your hybrid form to benefit from your fighting styles.
