@geemo_Sensfan @JeremyECrawford Lvl 3 Sor, Cha 16: Witch Bolt (1st lvl slot) + Empower Spell. Re-roll up to 3 rds worth of dmg, or just in Rd1? I'd re-roll a total up to Cha mod, over the course of the spell

Are or are rangers not supposed to get Advantage on attacks vs Favored Enemies?
Question: Are or are rangers not supposed to get Advantage on attacks vs Favored Enemies? I assume no cause Rogue exists.
@OpsKT yeah, that plus it is a pain in the ass for DMs to run themed campaigns, played an undead FA ranger in Ravenloft a few years back…

if I pair a troll wth two pteranodons, do I really double the total xp?
@zudensachenif I pair a troll wth two pteranodons, do I really double the total xp? Even the troll’s? Seems like one pteranodon adds lots xp adding more creatures does not increase danger in a linear manner – it's a big jump in threat
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) October 10, 2014
@mikemearls thanks I'm cool with that. Players love it. But means you could in principle double an ancient dragon by chucking in a couple..
— Dave Aldridge (@zudensachen) October 10, 2014
@zudensachen…of twig blights? Nope – monster CRs need to be close for multiplier to kick in, or monster abilities relevant to threat/encounter
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) October 10, 2014
@zudensachen It's in the DMG, will be added to Basic D&D.

@zudensachenby the way, we really appreciate getting these replies! Great level of support from game designer! no problem!

If you wanted the Tarrasque to throw rocks, would you use the Improvised Weapon rules?
If you wanted the Tarrasque to throw rocks, would you use the Improvised Weapon rules (PHB), or the Rock rules for Giants (MM)?
@ktkenshinxI would probably just make a new attack with damage commensurate to the tarrasque's other attacks so it's a viable attack option

@ktkenshinx rock rules for giants
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) October 10, 2014
@ktkenshinxTY! Is there a reason Tarrasque statblock lacks ranged attacks for fighting pesky enemies at distance? Seems like big a weakness we built creatures based more on story reality, than trying to counter characters.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) October 10, 2014
@ktkenshinx You *could* drop a tarrasque on to a featureless plain and fight it, or lure one there.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) October 10, 2014
@ktkenshinx Expectation though is that a DM uses one in a dramatic way – tarrasque emerges in a city and starts trampling buildings/people
