Reading the 4e DMG and I wish more lessons from it were retained for 5e? It suggests flexibility and swapping roles between player and GM (nixing a complaint about power abusing GMs) admits you don’t need a battle mat for 4e but it runs better & suggests socializing and snacking

Some of my favorite parts of 5e are innovations from 4e. So much solid design in there.
And I hear no end of wonderful things about the 4e DMG. I need to really read through it.
