Speaking of race design, how do you balance drawback racial traits?

@RainyRedwoodsSpeaking of race design, how do you balance drawback racial traits? Can the game account for, say, being unable to touch iron? not really with mechanics – balance-wise, easy to play a class for which that doesn't matter (monk, wizard) #wotcstaff
