Eberron

So what ‘Martian drugs would you import for your Sharn game?
I think Absentia – from Sharn: City of Towers – is already something that would be right at home on Al Amarja!

*nod* i’m working on a game set in Breland with some heavy Night’s black Agentsinfluences… And then I found my copy of Weather the Cuckoo Likes… Night’s Black Agents in Eberron sounds great!

I am thinling Nightmare, Zorro, and Communion. Absentia seems like Wings with Teeth Nightmare certainly seems appropriate. Droaam also produces blood gin – which lets you experience the final moments of someone’s life.

When you die your soul goes to Dolurrh
Got an #Eberron question. When you die your soul goes to Dolurrh (with a few exceptions). My question is ghosts. One source says that ghosts only "come out" at a certain time of year. The second source says they remain in the world of the living as much as they inhabit Dolurrh. pic.twitter.com/T1v3KozEpV
— Ben (@roguecaliber) June 25, 2018
That’s sort of the idea I’m getting. I know the Silver Flame holds on to their own. I guess Dolurrh is just a place for the dead. No soul-grabbing entity resides there. In fact, the God of the Dead tries to snag souls from Dolurrh? Bear in mind that many religions (Path of Light, Sovereign Host, SIlver Flame) assert that Dolurrh isn't the END; it's a transition. Memories fade in Dolurrh because they're going SOMEWHERE ELSE. The ghosts in Dolurrh are just remnants, like what you reach with Speak With Dead.
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) June 26, 2018
To me, the feel of Eberron is whatever you WANT it to be. 998 YK is an interesting starting point with a lot of things converging. But if you take it forward five years and resolve some of those elements, you haven't LOST anything; you've made the world your own.
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) June 26, 2018
If you believe the Silver Flame/Sovereign theory, the purpose of Dolurrh isn't to contain the dead; it's to cleanse them and push them on. The ghosts in Dolurrh (or anywhere else) are a side effect of this, not the goal.
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) June 26, 2018
In my opinion, Eberron's cold war will continue until someone resolves the mystery of the Mourning. If you don't make that revelation part of your campaign, it could certainly continue for decades.
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) June 26, 2018
Certainly. Though it would be especially logical if there’s a manifest zone to Dolurrh in the area.

While Warforged are sentient, were there autonomous weapons during the Last War?
While Warforged arw sentient, were there autonomous weapons during the Last War? -a controversial topic in international humanitarian law discussions nowadays Define autonomous weapons in this context. Does a warforged titan – able to follow commands, but not capable of creative thought – fall into this category?
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) July 3, 2018
Not really. In Int’l law they are “Any weapon system with autonomy in its critical functions—that is, a weapon system that can select (search for, detect, identify, track or select) and attack (use force against, neutralize, damage or destroy) targets without human intervention” So the Warforged titsn is more like a drone -humans choose to trigger commands. Autonomous weapons are more like “Terminator” minus self-awareness
— Nicolás Carrillo-S. (@NicolasCS) July 3, 2018
You can tell a titan to do something and it can go do it on its own; it doesn't require a human pilot accompanying it. It just doesn't have the capacity for creativity.
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) July 3, 2018
Basically, I'm not sure where "autonomous weapon" falls in the spectrum of titan and normal warforged.
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) July 3, 2018
Pretty much. You can tell a warforged titan "Breach that fort. Kill all enemies. Take down the gate." It will follow those directives. But it doesn't have to have someone following it shouting "Attack that guy! Now attack that other guy!" – it can handle "kill the enemy."
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) July 3, 2018
What it can't do is alter its plans based on an unexpected development. The general surrenders! The enemy uses civilians as human shields! The warforged titan will ignore these things and stick with its orders of "kill the enemy."
— Keith Baker (@HellcowKeith) July 3, 2018
There’s certainly still warforged titans around.

Eberron: Will there be a print on demand option?
Download
Wayfinder’s guide to Eberron
Will there be a print on demand option?
— Master the Game (@MasterTheGameRP) July 23, 2018
Lot of people asking about this for Eberron – not until the content is 100% sealed. Mechanics will run through UA and be updated in the PDF. Once those are done – and artificer added – we’ll turn on POD. https://t.co/hmQNi5hPbT
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) July 23, 2018
Should we wait till there is an official release then, if we don’t want to pay twice? Or will the official Ebberon book have different content? Updates to PDFs are free once you buy them via the DMs Guild, so if you buy today you’ll get the updated ones for free.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) July 23, 2018
I’m sorry, I’ll try to be more clear. I’m a bit confused about this. Is this like a pre-book or is this something else entirely? Is it even official or will it be eventually? If I buy this, will i end up buying an official Ebberon book in a year from now with different content?
— Dustin Gauntt (@Tw1zt84) July 23, 2018
This is 100% official content for Eberron. Since it is an ebook, that also means we can update content with comments based on UA playtests of the races and the artificer. If we do an Eberron print product, we will design it to complement as much as possible what the PDF presents. https://t.co/jq9zf1BmIZ
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) July 23, 2018
So this is a living document? Once things just flushed will the final versions be updated in this pdf? yes
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) July 23, 2018
A product that also gets a physical release, perhaps on several other platforms like Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds.
I appreciate your current attempts to clarify this information but I still must say that this has not been communicated well at all today. This book and a theoretical print release will be designed to complement each other, though some material (artificer, races) will be duplicated.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) July 23, 2018
So if we pay twenty dollars for this Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron, will the updates be applied to the book we purchase now or are you going to release a New and Improved book for another twenty dollars? They are all applied to the book you already purchased. No further purchases needed.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) July 23, 2018
Dear @mikemearls & @JeremyECrawford will you be releasing the entire contents of the new Eberron playtest material for free on UA? Because I see the races on UA now I wonder if I should get my $20 back. Asking for a bunch of friends. Like every book we produce, we'll be releasing as many of the player-facing mechanics as possible for playtest via UA. The final version will be added to an updated PDF once testing is done, just as we do for print products.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) July 23, 2018
So, this is going to be the first official book (when the printed version comes to life) with PDF version available too? We'll likely make them two, separate things. Just speaking theoretically – the print book might focus on the Five Nations and adventures there, while this covers Sharn in more detail.
