How rare is it amongst Wizards to be able to cast high level spells in Toril. There are a lot of powerful canonical wizards, but I’ve always assumed for every one of them there are probably 20+ wizards who can barely cast 2nd level spells. Is that a fair assessment? Fair, indeed!
You need access to a spell to learn it, and usually training/tutelage to survive experimenting with it unscared enough to ever try casting it again. So-called "hedge-wizards" (sometimes ENTIRELY untaught "wild talents") are by far the most common.#Realmslore

Given the otherwise “living in harmony with nature” thing of elves, why would they build crypts to inter their dead, instead of something more natural? Wild elves do natural burials. High/silver elves have family crypts (proud, powerful families only) to preserve family remains in the belief that those who come later can benefit from them in ways not yet perfected.
