Tell me about the most fun you've had playing 4th edition #DnD.
"None." "Never." "When I played fifth edition." "When it created Pathfinder." Sarcastic answers have now been covered and filled. No more sardonic responses needed.

I loved how much fun the players had during the playtest of @christulach 's Escape from Sembia adventure. That low-level adventure and play sessions felt like what good high-level play should feel like.

So many. But one I go back to is a teenager girl at my Encounters table who wanted to leap across a pit to take on a flaming skeleton. I inform her, and her Dad agrees, she has barely any chance of success. “I don’t care,” she says, and rolls a 20. Table goes wild!

Table of all gnolls, running up to an orphanage that has just been attacked by child-eating gnolls & them handing us the babies and asking us to carry them to safety… The DM got about halfway through the boxed text while we were grinning ear to ear before thinking better of it That’s hilarious.

There was a room with a trapped floor and a pedestal in the middle you needed to reach to disarm it.
The wizard cast Tenser's floating disk, enlarged their bird familiar, and jumped on it, dragging the disk behind him to the pedestal. The rogue sat on top of the disk!

I ran DnD Encouters during that time at a local store. One night I had upwards of 20 people at my table due to shortage of DMs.
There was a zombie encounter and I got to places dozens and dozens of zombies on the board to try and 'balance" the encounter. People had fun.

4e was my 'return' to D&D after one or two 3.5e games just after high school. I fell in love with ttRPGs through it, and 5e only strengthened that.

Specifically thinking of rules: there was one combat where my group fought a wyvern, a manticore, and a chimera across a town with loads of elevated terrain. It was brilliantly bonkers; loads of forced movement, hitching rides via grappling hooks, etc. Players all cheering 🙂
