feels like I was being a bit too technical when I last asked this, so I’m narrowing it.
In Volo’s Guide to Cormyr you detail the “gunpowder wand,” a (possibly Lantan) two-shot handgun. I’ve always seen you advocate smokepowder, so is this name a misnomer? No.
Gondites know about gunpowder (the saltpeter, etc. mix) but Gond cast a mighty magic to stop it from igniting swiftly (it burns with a flame, not exploding). Gond RARELY grants magics let gunpowder be used, but never enough to threaten smokepowder's dominance.#Realmslore— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) May 4, 2021
Interesting – so does that mean this particular small firearm in fact operates on gunpowder rather than smokepowder? It operates on special enchanted-by-priests-of-Gond gunpowder (you can't make your own, you must buy it from the FEW & high-ranking priests who can make it…and they WILL want to know what you'll be using it for). Greater glory of Gond = GOOD. Your own purposes: hmm.#Realmslore
