#dnd tip for DMs: the most powerful words in your arsenal are "what do you do?" If you are floundering, describe a scene and then ask that of your players. Ask them to describe actions and reactions as well to give yourself some time and fodder to move forward.

Great point – often times this question is enough to kickstart the players' imaginations and generate some questions. If the players are prompting me to describe more before they make a decision, they are helping to bring the environment and the scenario to life!
