given that the only example of a swordcane is found in Curse of Strahd for 5E, would that be the safest bet for intuiting it’s function should we wish to use it for a player weapon? Using that would be fine, personally I'd call it a rapier, and smacking people with the entire cane would be a club or maybe a mace (so d4 or d6 bludgeoning).
