thoughts on a monk 1/3 spellcaster subclass following arcane trickster and eldritch knight template (using spell slots)? Too strong?Would need to find way to balance slots and ki in same package

Would that be a complexity issue or power level issue?I never thought of it before, but now… how about using Ki in a similar fashion to how sorcerers use SP? Maybe the monks natural understanding of Ki can meld with the arcane magic?

This concept seems to be stepping pretty heavily on the toes of the Way of The Four Elements monk subclass.
Now, to be fair, most people seem to agree that the Four Elements monk doesn’t work very well as written, and it has pretty poor popularity as a result. But if you really want to go ahead with a new concept encroaching on the same design space, maybe consider just revamping the Four Elements monk entirely instead of making a separate new one?
Otherwise you run the risk of the Four Elements having its thematic space stolen out from under it, and it effectively becoming “obsolete” if the new subclass accomplishes the same sorts of goals, but more elegantly and effectively.
