Watching the #CriticalRole fire side chat. @matthewmercer, I was one of those who stuttered terribly & lost it when I sang; it’s how I started singing. My grandma had me sing things I when I couldn’t get the spoken words out (I was very young).
Now, professional #opera singe Yay! Yeah, years of speech therapy as a kid and finding theater helped me buck it. Mostly. My stutter still creeps in every now and then on certain words, or in high anxiety situations.— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) August 10, 2018
Out of curiousity, does it ever affect you when you’re doing voice work? I just wonder if that’s similar to the effect reported by others who sing. Every now and then. Certain words and phrases will trip me up.

watching your latest fireside chat and just came to the point you noted you were a stutterer. When I was younger I was as well. I learned after years when i spoke in character voices I seemed to push the stuttering away. How did you break away from yours? Speech therapy over many years, speaking in silly voices when by myself, theater, and singing. It still creeps in every now and then.
