@Asmogorgon What inspired you to come up with Elminster? Did you start him off as a lower level player? Do you still play 1e AD&D? Elminster and the Realms predate D&D, and El has never been a Player Character. For choice, I play AD&D (D&D 2nd Edition).

@AsmogorgonWow – so he predated D&D and he was an NPC from the outset? Yes. I started writing the first Realms stories in 1965-1966, and D&D came along in 1974 (1975 for general release). 1/2

@Asmogorgon Mirt the Moneylender was the first named Realms character (2 of the Seven Sisters were earlier), and El was the second. :}
