My #dnd group has just one session left in our campaign! We're trying to decide where to go next.
When starting a fresh new adventure with the same players, what questions do you think are important to ask *before* session zero to make sure you've chosen the right one?

morning dm advice: my favorite thing to ask in a dnd session zero is "what can i cross off your dnd bucket list?"
the answers are always wildly inventive, you get an easy win, and the player gets some autonomy about the adventure!!

What didn’t you enjoy last campaign? What aspects did you want to explore further? This one's really critical if we keep the same characters for a post campaign!

I think talking about genre and tone is always important. Do they want the next campaign to be episodic with at least one beach episode? Do they want to try a darker campaign where their characters are scared or stressed? Or do they want more of the same in a different setting? Yeah, I think after all this time in hell (and the pandemic), they're probably looking for something at least a *little bit* brighter.

What did you like most about the last campaign? Would you like more of that, or did the last campaign give you enough of it?
What did you like least about the last campaign? Should we avoid that this time, or would you like to try it a different way so we can get it right?

I have a question though, coz i am quite new to this. When you say, start a fresh new adventure with the same characters, does that mean that they start from the beginning levels, or retain the level that they gained from the campaign? Sorry if that would be a stupid question No, it's a valid question! In the original tweet, I said the same players because we're staying with the same group.
But in the follow-up, it's possible that they want to keep adventuring with their same characters, continuing to higher-level adventures based on past hooks!
