What would you do if a player legit won’t respect anything the dm says or does and literally curses them out for putting them in an RP moment vs combat. Please advise! For reference, I am the dm…. That…sounds like someone I would not want to play with. Maybe talk with them about how they are making you feel, and ask them to try and respect/appreciate the effort you put in. If not, perhaps they may need to find a game that’s more their style.

It sounds like it has nothing to do with you “not being cut out”, and more like a mismatch of Dm & Players. I’ve gamed with people whom we’re friends, but our styles of play clashed. Don’t take that incongruency as a failure on your part.

Having a session 0 to discuss expectations and play style before you begin helps set the tone. Beyond that, you need to find players who respect you. The scenarios you are describing? I’d drop that game group in a second if it were me.
